In 2003, The PA USATF Grand Prix will include all Olympic contested track events, and all Olympic contested
field events. There is no event specific competition, and the best scores take the spoils.
This years prize money is $15,000, with equal prize monies going to both the top ten men and women.
The grand prix coordinator is Jerry Colman, PA USATF Track & Field Chair ([email protected] or FAX 916/567.9690)
SCORING POINTS:
The IAAF Scoring Table of Athletics (2001 edition) will be used to equate scoring.
An athlete must attain at least 900 points in an individual performance to score.
See the table with 900-point performance levels below.
ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION:
All 2003 PA/USATF registered athletes are eligible to compete in the Grand Prix.
You must become a member BEFORE you start earning points!!
After obtaining a USATF membership number, you MUST register with Jerry Colman
([email protected] or FAX 916/567.9690) by submitting the following information:
Name
Address
Evert(s)
2003 USATF Number
Email address or FAX #
This must be completed prior to earning any points towards your Grand Prix total! Dont wait until after you start competing to obtain your membership card and register with Jerry. Points earned before obtaining your 2003 USATF membership will not be counted.
ELIGIBLE MEETS:
Any meet that is eligible to qualify you for entry into the 2003 USATF National Open
Outdoor Track and Field Championships may be counted towards your Grand Prix total, provided the meet occurs between
March 1, 2003 and June 8, 2003. This includes most NCAA and USATF sanctioned meets.
If you are unsure whether a meet may count towards the Grand Prix, please contact Jerry Colman.
There is no limit to the number of meets you may enter, but only
the best five (5) performances will count, will the following rules:
1. Only one (1) scoring event per meet is allowed. The rationale for this is that the PA USATF Grand Prix is to develop athletes competitive on the national level.
2.A maximum of two (2) meets outside the PA USATF boundaries can score points. Any others must be within the PA USATF boundaries.
3.Points will be doubled at The PA USATF Championships to be held Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento.
4.A score in a multi event competition counts as two meets as long as the score is at, or above, the 900 point level.
5. A bonus of points scored at the USATF National Championships will be added to your final score. This is over and above your points scored in up 5 other meets as outlined above.
SUBMITTING RESULTS:
The Grand Prix coordinator will attempt to gather results for those who have registered for the series.
However, all athletes should submit their results to the Grand Prix coordinator to ensure that all their
results are counted, especially for meets outside the PA USATF boundaries. The point totals will be
posted weekly on The Pacific Association website www.pausatf.org and any ommisions should be noted.
