OPEN DISCUS AND SHOT PUT – MEN & WOMEN

 

MINIMUM MARKS TO BE ACCEPTED INTO MEET:  In the Men’s Discus we will accept the Top “20” entries based on verifiable marks and discretion of meet management.  Marks must be made between January 1, 2005 and May 14, 2006. 

 

Discus Men:  180’ (48.78m) Top “20”                    Discus Women:  160’ (48.78m) Top “10”

Shot Put Men:  55’ (16.76m) Top “10”                    Shot Put Women:  50’ (15.24m) Top “10”

NOTE:  There will be no competition for high school, community college, or age group athletes.

 

ENTRY FEE:  $15 per athlete per event; payable at weights and measures shed at time of weigh–in.  Pay cash or make check payable to Hartnell Track.  Late entries (if accepted) will cost $50 per event.  Athletes with false marks entered will be disqualified from competition.

 

AWARDS:  Top 3 marks recorded, during the day of competition in the shot and discus will receive 3-inch Thrower’s Meet Medals.

 

WEIGHTS AND MEASURES CERTIFICATION:  Check in implements 1 hour 15 minutes prior to event start time.

MINIMUM MEASUREMENT RULES:  After 1st mark is measured we will only measure marks that exceed:  Men’s Open Discus:  175’ (53.35m) Men’s Invitational Discus: 190’ (57.92m) Women’s Invitational Discus:  165’ (50.30m)

 

ENTRY DEADLINE:  Monday, May 15, 2006 at 1:00 pm.  Fax or email entries to Gary Shaw at the numbers listed above.  Any late entries accepted after deadline will cost $50 per event.

NOTE:  This is not a NCAA qualifier meet!

DIRECTIONS:  Hartnell College is located 60 miles south of San Jose and 120 miles north of San Luis Obispo in the produce capital of the world – Salinas.  Nearest airports (San Jose 1 hr, S.F. and Oakland 2 hrs and Monterey 20 min.)

 

FROM NORTH:  (San Jose):  101 South to Salinas> exit on Main Street ramp> 10–11 blocks> rt. on Alisal> 8 blocks to Hartnell College.

 

FROM SOUTH:  (San Luis Obispo):  101 North to Salinas> exit rt. on John Street to stop sign> lt. over freeway on John Street> 9 blocks>rt. on Monterey Street> 2–3 blocks>lt. on Alisal Street> 9 blocks to Hartnell College.

 

PARKING:  Best parking spot is 25 yards from shot put ring.  Locate Gary Shaw for parking permit.  Campus parking fine is $35.00.  Do not park in any other lot.

 

LODGING:  If you choose to stay in Salinas make reservations at the Laurel Inn, 805 W. Laurel Drive, Salinas, 93901, (831) 449–2474, ask for manager Terri Quisno and Hartnell College track team rate ($52.00 + 10% tax).

 

DINNER:  Maps will be provided to Smalley’s Round–Up (best steak house in the county, $12–$25) and Hometown Buffet (great all–you–can–eat meal, $9.50).
