Several top USA high school track and field stars are among the elite entries for the first and oldest of the post-season meets, the 49th adidas Golden West Invitational, Saturday evening (June 7), at Folsom (Calif.) High School.

A week after running  the second fastest all-time girls 3,200 meters at the California championships, Jordan Hasay of Mission Prep (San Luis Obispo), plans to drop down to the 800 meters.

Hasay has now set freshman, sophomore, and junior class records at 3,200 meters, plus some class and age records at 1,500 meters (where she ranks No. 4 all-time at 4:16.98) and at one mile.
She faces some tough 800 targets, such as the age 16 record set last year by Chanelle Price of East Area (Easton, Pa.), 2:02.38 and the junior class record of 2:01.82 by Kim Gallagher of Upper Dublin (Ft. Washington, Pa.) in 1981.

Competition could come from another current junior, Justine Fedronic of Carlmont (Belmont, Calif.), who had the top sophomore time last year, 2:08.08 and is just rounding into form after early season injuries.

Boys leaders entered include Spencer Adams of Butler (Charlotte) in the 110 meter high hurdles (13.51); Jordan Clarke, Bartlett (Anchorage), shot put (71-3); Nico Weiler, Los Gatos (Calif.), pole vault (17-4 1.2); Christian Taylor, Sandy Creek (Tyrone, Ga.), long jump (25-6 3/4 indoors) and triple jump (52-6 1/2).

MORE TOP GIRL RUNNERS:  Outdoor 200 leader (and new California champ) Jessica Davis of Highland (Palmdale, Calif.), 23.46, plans to double in the 100 (11.62)  vs. Candyce McGrone of Warren Central (Indianapolis), who has a wind-aided 11.37 this year.

Two Florida state division champs are scheduled in the 400 meters, Ebony Eutsey of Southridge (Miami), the USA’s top freshman last year at 52.67, and Lanie Whittaker of Booker T. Washington (Miami), 53.83 in the state 3A meet.  Eutsey ran 53.85 for the 4A title.

GIRLS FIELD: USA leader Anastasia Jelmini of Shafter (Calif.) is in the discus (183-11),
Jacinda Evans of Southern (Durham, N.C.), the No. 3 ranked long jumper (20-3 1/2) and Alitta Boyd of Moreau (Hayward, Calif.), the No. 3 triple jumper (41-8 1/4) are scheduled to dual in both jumps.
