Pacific Association Athletes Break World, American Records at Boston Indoor Nationals!
USATF National Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships

The PAUSATF was well represented by a large group of athletes at the USATF National Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston held March 28th through March 30th . Meet highlights include:
Frank Condon (Chico) set an new World record by in the M65 mile. Frank ran 5:11.43, which lowered his own AR set at the Hartshorne Mile earlier this year and the listed indoor WR of 5:13.3 by Canada's Earl Fee in 1996. Condon also won the 800m in 2:20.89.
Larry Barnum (Reno) teamed up with three other runners from across the country (Roger Pierce, Charles Allie, and Ralph Souppa) to break the M60-69 4x400 World Record with a time of 4:03.24, which breaks the mark set in March by a Canadian squad by over 10 seconds. Barnum also placed second the M60 400 meter dash.
Rod Jett (Sacramento) won the gold in the M40 60m hurdles with a new American record time of 8.21, just nipping Dexter McCloud's listed record of 8.22 from 2006. (Rod actually ran faster earlier this year -- 8.19 in Seattle back in January, but that mark is pending ratification). Jett also won gold in the 60m dash.
Jack Bray (Greenbrae, CA) scored a new M75 American Record in the 3000m racewalk with a time of 17:12.23, obliterating the old mark of 17:52.24 by Jack Starr in 2003.
Edythe Leek (Sacramento) won gold in the W75 60m dash, 200m, long jump, shot put, triple jump, and high jump for a total of six national titles in one meet.
Liz Palmer, (Sacramento) the defending W45 pentathlon champ withdrew midway through that event due to injury but rallied to victory in both the 60 meter dash and 60 meter hurdles, and placed second in the 200 meter dash.
Marty Krulee (Rocklin) won the M50 60 meter dash, Lawrence Lettieri (Menlo Park) scored the M60 bronze in the same event, and Gary Sims (Paradise) was golden in the M70 race.
The M65 400 meter dash had a pair of PA medalists with Mel Brooks (Crockett) in first place and Dennis Duffy (Fresno) in third.
Sam McClellan (San Rafael) was third in the M55 60 meter hurdles, and Dennis Cameron (Reno) won the M59 super weight throw. Adarian Barr (Santa Rosa) was victorious in the M40 triple jump and placed second in the long jump, and Joseph Ols (Los Gatos) scored a gold medal the M40 3000 meter race walk and silver in the pole vault.
