After months of trying to recruit a team to put on this year's LDR banquet
and awards ceremony, we've decided to try something new this year. One would
be hard pressed to call it a banquet, but given that it is now spring, we
decided that an outdoor event might be more fun!

The 2007 LDR awards ceremony will be held at a picnic following the Zippy 5K
in Golden Gate Park on April 20. This aptly named Zipnic will take place
starting around 10:30 on the grassy areas  near the Zippy start/finish
area, near the Conservatory of Flowers on JFK Drive in Golden Gate Park.

Both individual and team winners of the three LDR Grand Prixs will be
presented awards, along with awards for the road, cross, and ultra runners
of the year, club of the year, volunteers of the year, and performances of
the year.

We will be providing deli sandwiches, chips, and beverages. The good news
is that we've been able to negotiate pretty favorable pricing and will
only charge $5 per attending athlete ($50 per club, if less) to help
defray costs.  Also, if anyone out there feels up to bringing some food
to share, we'd be more than happy to accept.

We encourage  clubs and/or individuals to pay up front by sending a check
made out to sponsoring club New Balance Excelsior.
