Hello everyone and welcome to the Pacific Association USATF’s annual youth track and field planning meeting.    During this session we will critique our 2008 track and field season, set our 2009 track meet schedule and have a working session to address your thoughts and ideas for the upcoming 2009 season.

Team Binders:  All teams were presented with a team binder at the beginning of our 2008 season.  Please remember to bring that binder with you to our meeting.  We will have updates to add and/or subtract from your binder.  We also want your input as to the usefulness of the binder as well as any suggestions on how and what improvements can be made to make your binder even more efficient.  As noted last season the purpose for the binder is to help you with questions you might have throughout the year.  So before calling a fellow coach or board member to ask a question, please refer to your binder; you just might find the answer you are looking for.

Background Checks:  2007 was the kickoff year for the background checks requiring actual live scan fingerprinting.  Please let us know if you have new coaches or volunteers who need to be fingerprinted.  We must have a minimum of twenty individuals before we can have a technician come to our meeting on October 11th to do the live scan for us.  Please RSVP to George Paddeck at [email protected] if you need these services.  We will keep track of the number of people who contact him and let you know if live scan service will be available.    If so, we will have live scan service from 1 – 3 p.m.

Breakout Working Sessions:  Last year our annual meeting took place at the Asilomar Conference Grounds in the Monterey area and was quite successful.  We received such positive feedback that we have decided to implement one section of that conference into our annual meeting from now on.  The first portion of our October 11th meeting will pertain to the usual critique of the past season, scheduling of meets, etc.  The second portion will consist of a participatory breakout session.  This part of the meeting is optional, but we will appreciate everyone’s participation.  The more we communicate our ideas and concerns to each other, the better our organization becomes.  We request that you come to the meeting with the ideas that you want this organization to focus on.  We’ll vote on the top 2-4 areas and then breakout into small workgroups to begin working through the areas of opportunity.   If you have any suggestions do not hesitate to contact us and let us know that as well.  We will definitely take all suggestions and comments into consideration for this years’ discussions.  For further information please contact Maura Kent as soon as possible at pa.youth_communicationschair@yahoo.com.
