Subject: Injury prevention study at Stanford

Dear Coach,

My name is Adam Tenforde, and I am a medical school student at
Stanford who is working with Dr. Michael Fredericson on a study
evaluating overuse injuries in high school female distance runners. We
would like to understand the role of playing ball sports  and
performing strength training on injury prevention and to identify
factors that contribute to injury.

To do this, we would like to invite your team to participate in our study.
We have an online survey which takes approximately 45 minutes
to perform and have access to DXA scans which take 15 minutes
to perform at Stanford. I have included a letter that explains the
study in detail.

As a former track and field student-athlete at Stanford, I have been
frustrated by the incidence of injury in my female teammates and hope
this study can provide information that might reduce injuries in
female runners at the high school and college level. I hope you will
consider participating in this study, and I look forward to hearing
from you soon.

Sincerely,

Adam
