Youth-Oriented Coaching & Clinic Opportunities

Track & Field Mini Camps
Clinics will be taught by the current Logan Track & Field staff as well as Logan alumni.  These mini camps are open to athletes and to coaches.

  • October 31 - Sprints & long jump for beginning athletes
  • November 14 - Sprints, hurdles, strength training
  • December 5 - Throws:  shot put, discus, javelin, hammer (all  ages)
  • December 12 - Speed training for all sports
  • December 19 - Jumps:  triple jump, high jump, pole vault, strength  training
  • January 9 - Long jump, triple jump
  • January 16 - Hurdles, discus, triple jump, high jump, strength  training

  • Cost:  
    • $10.00 for residents single camp / $50  for all camps ... add $5 for same day registration
    • $15.00 for non residents single camp / $75 for all camps ... add $5 for  same day registration

USATF Coaching Education - Level 1 Schools

The USATF Coaching Education Level 1 program is intended as a starting point for coaches.  One of the objectives of the Level 1 program is to put all coaches on common ground (i.e., speaking the same language).  The Level 1 program covers all rudimentary manner by emphasizing fundamentals, rules, safety / risk management, and instruction techniques.  Level 1 certification prepares an individual to coach at junior high schools and high schools, as well as for clubs and junior age divisions.

    • Time:  8:00 am - 8:30 pm on Saturday / 8:30 am - 7:00 pm on  Sunday
    • Location:  Sacramento City College
    • Cost:  $125 if received by December 5 or $150 late or  on-site registration

    • Date:  January 16-17, 2010
    • Time:  8:00 am - 8:30 pm on Saturday / 8:30 am - 7:00 pm on  Sunday
    • Location:  Chabot College, Hayward
    • Cost:  $125 if received by December 5 or $150 late or  on-site registration

    • Dave Shrock was able to secure funding to send 20 coaches to these Level  1 clinics for free.  But you must apply by November 28 @ 5 pm.   Even if you are new to coaching... this can still apply to you!
