CALL FOR PA/USATF LDR OFFICIALS

(and Track Officials who have expressed interest in LDR):

The 2010 PA/USATF Long Distance Running Road Grand Prix/Championship
season officially begins on March 6.

Please consider volunteering as an LDR official during the season.
Referees, Judges, Umpires, Timers, and occasionally Starters are all
needed. (In addition, on-call Jury of Appeal members are sought.)

We welcome new officials--that is, new folks to LDR officiating. Or,
perhaps, you’re a veteran official who hasn't volunteered at an LDR event
for a while. Of course, we provide on-the-job mentoring and training.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you can contribute at any of
these events, or if you can serve on-call as a Jury of Appeal member.
(Jurors typically serve from home and adjudicate appeals of Referee
decisions via conference calls.)

REMINDER (USATF Membership, Officials Certification): Have you forgotten
or failed to renew your USATF membership for 2010 or failed to re-certify
as a USATF official (particularly with an LDR specialty) for the current
Olympiad? If so, we encourage you to take care of these temporary lapses
immediately. If you have questions regarding your current status, please
contact PA Officials Certification Chair Jim Hume

NEED TO CERTIFY IN AN LDR DISCIPLINE OR UPGRADE YOUR LDR SPECIALTY (and
you're currently a certified official)? We can arrange for you to take
the basic LDR officiating rules review (exam), or the LDR Referee rules
review (provided you have the necessary LDR officiating experience) at
home at any time. Please contact me for more information.

RULEBOOK/RULES (LDR): Finally, several significant amendments to USATF
rules that impact LDR were passed at last December's USATF Annual
Meeting. If you'd like a summary of these LDR-specific amendments, please
contact me.
