Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot/Seagate Elite Athlete 5K

Thursday, November 24, 2005 (Thanksgiving)

Elite Athlete Races: 10:00 a.m.

Downtown San Jose

As a Thanksgiving gift for the many talented runners in the Pacific Association, the Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot is adding a special PA/USATF section to its Seagate Elite Athlete 5K race. The event will conduct two completely separate (from the mass race) elite 5K races -- one for men and one for women. Top PA G.P. athletes have an opportunity to compete head-to-head with the event's invited competitors who have met sub-14:30/sub-16:30 time standards. Top PA athletes will compete for a dedicated $500 prize purse--an addition to the $9,000 purse (plus $5,000 U.S. record bonuses) that is already established for this new event.

The following PA/USATF athletes are eligible for comp entry:

-- 2005 SHORT ROAD GRAND PRIX: Open men and women who finished in the top 10 in the standings. Master men and women who finished in the top five of the standings.

-- 2005 CROSS COUNTRY GRAND PRIX: In the final standings (following scoring of the PA XC Championships): Top 10 open men and women and top five masters men and women.

-- 2005 LONG ROAD GRAND PRIX: Provisional comp entry on a space available basis to the top 10 open men/women and top five masters in the standings following Clarksburg 30K.
