Johnny Mathis Meet to Include Masters MileDue to popular demand, we're moving the master's mile (40+)
back to the Johnny Mathis meet. It will be late morning (close to noon) with
the exact time schedule coming out the week of the meet once entries are
received for all events. As many of you know, weather in San Francisco is
made for distance running at all times of the day. I've put the event back
where it was when we had the biggest turnout. There aren't many chances
to get a focused master's mile race on the track with a good crowd in the
stands so hopefully this will be fun for all of you who want to see what
you can run for a mile (we will run the full mile, not 1600m). Historically
this has been a men's field, but women are welcome as well.
Here is the meet information. Contact me with questions. There will be no on-line entry for the mile. You enter by emailing your name, age, and club affiliation. I have staged a master's mile at our home meets over the past five years and included the results below. Enjoy! In an effort to level the playing field, awards were determined by using the recently revised "Age Graded Scoring Tables". The age graded winner was 55 year-old Tom Bernhard with a sensational time of 4:55.12, the "open" age equivalent of 4:07.75 at 89.85% MASTERS OF THE MILE Saturday, April 7, 2007 11:40 a.m. conditions: foggy, damp, 62 degrees San Francisco State University 21 starters 1.
