INDIANAPOLIS – Erik Skaden (Folsom, Calif.) returns to the USA 100 Mile Trail Championships in an attempt to win outright the title that he shared last year with Mike Wolfe (Missoula, Mont.). This year’s championships will once again be hosted by the 2009 Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs on July 18th and 19th in beautiful Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Skaden will face a 100-mile field that includes both experienced ultra marathoners and newcomers including men’s competitors Jamie Dial (Franklin, Tenn.), Jon Olsen (Modesto, Calif.), and Ian Torence (Ashland, Ore.). The women’s field appears to be wide-open where a first-time national champion will be crowned.
This year’s overall men’s and women’s winners of the USA 100-mile Championships will receive $1,000 each. The top ten men and women USATF athletes will receive overall medals. Additionally, the top three finishers in each five-year age division starting at 40 years of age will also receive medals.
