The Pacific Association has an active Race Walk Committee representing Race Walk Clubs and an annual series of events that make up the Pacific Association’s Championship Race Walks. There will be an Introduction to Race Walk Judging Clinic early in 2024. You will then become a non-scoring Apprentice Judge. After being mentored by experienced Judges, you can advance to become an Association Judge. If you are interested, please email the USATF Pacific Officials Training Chair.

2021 Pacific Association Race Walk Grand Prix Season
The 2021 USATF Pacific Association Race Walk Grand Prix Championship events were all virtual. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were no sanctioned in-person events for the Grand Prix.
We had seven virtual races, following the rules established in 2020 for the #AloneTogether COVID-19 VIRTUAL events (see below):
• 1,500-meters, anytime from Saturday, February 6, to Sunday, February 28
• 1-mile (1,609 meters), anytime from Saturday, March 6, to Sunday, March 28
• 3,000-meters, anytime from Saturday, April 3, to Sunday, April 25
• 5,000-meters, anytime from Saturday, May 1, to Sunday, May 23
• One-Hour, anytime from Saturday, June 1, to Sunday, July 18 (longer due to the Olympic Trials & JOs)
• 10 kilometers, anytime from Wednesday, September 1, to Thursday, September 30
• 20 kilometers, anytime from Wednesday, September 1, to Thursday, September 30

Pacific Association Officer Elections
The USATF Pacific Board of Directors nominations are open until Sunday, 24 March at 11:59pm. The offices open for nomination are:
President
First Vice President
Second Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Nominees must be at least 18 years of age by June 1, a current member of the Association, and have attended at least four Board of Athletics meetings in the past three years before their nomination. If elected the members must also clear the SafeSport and NCSI background checks.
Nominees must have a nominator and a seconder who are current members of the BoA.
Nominations and seconds are currently being accepted by email at the association office: [email protected] (and please cc Secretary Stephanie Brown Trafton: [email protected]). Email nominations will close at 11:59pm on Sunday, 24 March.
Nominations will also be accepted from the floor during the March 19 Board of Athletics meeting.
Terms are for two years and begin June 1.
Committee Chair elections will take place after the Association officer elections are concluded in the spring.

► PA 2019 SafeSport training opportunities
SafeSport information and training details
In order to better protect all USATF members, all coaches (of any level), association or club officers, and officials must have completed SafeSport training in to serve in these USATF positions.
If you have already completed this training at any time, it is valid until Dec. 31, 2019.
You may take the 90min training online at: http://www.usatf.org/About/SafeSport/SafeSport-Training.aspx
The training is free, though must upload your current USATF membership number when registering and review questions are interspersed through the online training.
You may also attend one of these in-person 90min trainings which do not require you to take a test:
Sat, 12 January: 2:45-4:15pm at American River Officials Clinic
Sat, 2 February: 3:30-5:00pm at Athletic.net SuperClinic
(do not need to register for clinic to attend SafeSport training)
Sat, 9 February: 2:45-4:15pm at Logan HS (Union City) Officials Clinic which is part of the Willie Davenport Olympians Clinic

► PA Assoc Annual Meeting Announcement – Tues, 18 Sept.
The USATF_Pacific Association will host its annual meeting Tuesday, 18 September at the Foster City Recreation Department from 7:30-10:00pm. Foster City Recreation Center, (650 Shell Blvd., Foster City, 94404).
Primary tasks at the Annual Meeting are to approve the 2019 operating budget and approve sixteen delegates to the Columbus Annual Meeting.
