Background checks to renew
membership can start as early as Nov1 to renew and the latest by February
28, 2009.
Coaches would like to find
another program besides Club Manager. We gave them the pros of
having Club Manager which were: You can manage your club plus
enter in meets. A suggestion was made to take a survey of other meets
and see their programs and see if they are easier to use.
It was also mentioned that
there is a problem with officials coaching while their kids are on the
field a suggestion was made that they have someone to cover for them
while they watch their kids and then return to their post. It is not
a USATF rule to have coaches on the field but the discretion of the
meet director. It was also suggested that we create a coaches
box and or passes for coaches to be able to come on the field but that
suggestion was out voted. Rule 144 No coaches on the field.
If a team was to be able to
get 5 plus people to want to become officials they will come out to
what ever the area is and give the test to become a certified official.
Coaches also made the statement
that at some track meet their athletes misses some of their events,
we let them know that is the responsibility of the coach the parent
and the athlete.
Feedback on the binders was
done by the coaches plus additional information was given out to be
added to the binders.
No longer will we be deleting
athletes at the track meet to reduce prices.
Birth Certificate can go to
Tony or Hika until further arrangements has been made.
Volunteers hours for track
meet will be cut down Maria and Debra are working on how long and how
many people it will take to complete each job function.
ROTC group will help with the
PAC Track Meet.
Exhibition events can be held
at a track meet by the discretion of the meet director.
USATF cannot control what a
team does with their funds once they are disbursed to that team.
USATF cannot do anything about
a team that takes a spot and then compete AAU.
Going by the by laws alcomers
meets will not be hosted by our website there is a website that list
all the alcomers meets.
If a meet is geographically
close then voting will be held.
Voting was held for the track
season for 2009, results are as follows:
March 14, 2009 Pacific United

Save your confirmation scoresheet emails! They are your proof of submittal
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your confirmation emails will be your proof of scoresheet submittal. Please keep these emails until the team scoring is posted. If you do NOT get a reply email back (within a few minutes) when you submit your sheet, then resubmit the scoresheet. If that fails, please send an email directly to the scorer . If your team is left off of the scoring, and you do NOT have a confirming email as proof, your team will not be scored.
PA/USATF has just added a web page that will allow team captains to quickly and easily email their team scoresheets to the proper PA/USATF scorer. Click the "Submit your Team ScoreSheet" link above to go to this page. This web page will allow you to select runners from the roster of USATF members who belong to your club, as well as adding any runners who have "pending" USATF numbers. Then you simply click on a button and the list of scorers will be emailed to the scorer, as well as emailed to you and whomever else on your team you would like to be copied on the email.
The advantages of this are several. First, if a runner doesn’t appear on your roster, you will know that you need to confirm that the runner has a pending USATF number. This may save some of the problems that occur when we cannot confirm a runner’s USATF membership. Also, you do not have to remember who to send the scoresheet email to – it will automatically be sent to whomever is doing the scoring for that race. And since the scoresheets will all be in the same standard format, there will be fewer questions on the part of PA/USATF about who was intended to score.
We strongly encourage you to use the new web page to submit your scoresheets. We also encourage you to give us any comments about problems or suggested improvements in the system. The cross country grand prix scorer is Tom Bernhard, and you can email him at [email protected].

PACIFIC ASSOCIATION STRONG AT USATF NATIONAL CLUB AND NATIONAL JUNIOR OLYMPIC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
FOLSOM, CALIF. – December 13, 2007 – Last weekend, Pacific Association/USA Track and Field athletes and teams turned in outstanding performances at the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships and the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships.
USATF NATIONAL CLUB CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The USATF National Club Cross Country Championships, held December 7 in West Chester, Ohio, featured the top clubs from across the United States vying for top honors and bragging rights as the nation’s top cross country team. Over 110 clubs and 1,130 competitors participated at the event with clubs competing for a total prize purse of $25,000, with $20,000 going to the top open teams. Open and masters races were held at distances of 10-kilometers for men and 6-kilometers for women. The event was held under cloudy skies, with temperatures beginning in the high 30s.
In the open men’s championship club competition, the Pacific Association’s Asics Aggies Running Club finished third and Oakland, Calif.-based Transports adidas Racing Team finished fourth. The Asics Aggies’ squad was led by 2007 Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo All-American Phillip Reid (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) who finished 11th overall. Among open women, Katy Trotter (Palo Alto, Calif.) finished 4th overall, representing her Peninsula Distance Club (no scoring team) well. Kara June (San Luis Obispo) finished 19th, and was the top scorer for the Asics Aggies, which was the top placing PA/USATF women’s team (13th).
Led by Ryan Warrenburg’s (Blowing Rock, NC) overall win, the men from North Carolina-based ZAP Fitness won their second consecutive USATF national team championship, while the Run Ohio Racing Team won the women’s title.
In the masters championship, PA/USATF’s San Francisco-based Impala Racing Team placed first in the women’s age 50 to 59 division and Marin County, Calif.-based Tamalpa Runners placed 2nd in the men’s age 50 to 59 age division. Crystal Esparza (age 17, Riverbank, Calif.) led the Buffalo Chips young women’s team with a 4th place individual finish. Buffalo Chips’ teams also placed 4th in the youth girls’ division, and 5th in youth boys.

(FOLSOM, Calif.) – November 13, 2007 – Over 350 young cross country runners
kicked up the turf at the Pacific Association/USA Track & Field Junior
Olympic Cross Country Championships in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park
on Sunday, November 11. The top 25 individual finishers and first three
club teams in each of ten different age groups qualified for the USATF
Region 14 Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships (November 25, Fresno, Calif.).
From there, qualifying athletes advance to the 2007 USATF National Junior Olympic
Cross Country Championships (December 8, Lawrence, Kan.).
More than 2,000 athletes age 8 to 18 from all 57 USATF Associations will compete for boys’ and girls’ titles in ten age divisions at the national championship meet. The USATF Junior Olympic program age divisions are bantam (born 1997 or later) racing over 3 kilometers; midget (born 1995 or 1996) racing 3 km; youth (born 1993 or 1994) racing 4 km; intermediate (born 1991 or 1992) racing 5 km and young men/women (born 1989 or 1990) racing 5 km.
According to Bob Shor, who directs the Pacific Association/USATF Junior Olympic meet, about 200 PA/USATF athletes typically qualify for the national meet, comprising about ten percent of the total field at nationals.
“We have strong youth clubs, a great Junior Olympic cross country schedule of events, and, of course, an excellent California winter climate here in the Pacific Association,” Shor said. “That makes all the difference for our kids.”
The Pacific Association/USATF JO Cross Country Championships on Sunday
provided a preview of more to come from many talented youngsters.
Competing in the intermediate boys division, 16-year-old Brandon Nied (Reno, Nev., unattached) dominated the field with a 1 minute, 34-second victory in a time of 16 minutes 53 seconds over 5 kilometers. The next closest competitor was Keiren Broussard (age 15, Fairfield, Calif., Full Stride Track Club) who finished second in 18:27.
Ten-year-old Eleanor Velez (El Dorado Hills, Calif., Buffalo Chips), competing in the bantam girls division, claimed top honors as she finished in 11:40 over 3 km. Finishing second was Jocelyn Vides (age 10, Sacramento, Calif., Pacific United) in 11:53.
Other individual winners for girls included Kyla Aiuto (age 12, Danville, Calif., Pleasanton Heat) in the midget division, 11:36 (3K); Shelby McIntyre (age 13, South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Tony Williams TC) in youth girls, 15:24 (4K); Kelsey Smith (age 16, South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Buffalo Chips) in intermediate girls, who successfully defended her title in 20:11 (5K); and Joelle Slater (age 17, Sacramento, Pacific United) in young women, 20:15 (5K). Girls’ team champions were Roseville Express in bantam, Pleasanton Heat in midget, and Tony Williams Track Club in youth.
Other individual boys’ winners were Samuel Blake (age 9, Campbell, Calif., Los Gatos Athletic Association Track Club) in bantam, 11:12 (3K); Brynn Sargent (age 12, Folsom, Calif., Roseville Express) in midget, 10:36 (3K); Michael McCabe (age 13, San Jose, Calif., unattached) in youth, 14:10 (4K); and Matthew Petrillo (age 18, Los Gatos, Calif., unattached) in young men, 16:33 (5K). Team champions were Pleasanton Heat in bantam and youth, and Roseville Express in midget.
“Overall, the meet was a big success,” said Shor. “The kids were spectacular, the cooperation among all of the clubs and the parents made everything work smoothly. We look forward to seeing these young
athletes in the regional and national meets.”
Dating back to the mid-1960’s, the USATF Junior Olympic program is the most visible youth athlete developmental program in the world. Nearly 70,000 youth athletes compete each year in Junior Olympic Track & Field and Cross Country programs. Many of America’s Olympians began as youth
athletes.
