RR PA’s Jacob Nur dominates USATF Masters 5 km Championships

The SRA Elite’s Jacob Nur, 66, (Elk Grove) easily won his division and achieved the highest male age grade at the USATF Masters 5 km Championships hosted by the Atlanta Track Club in Atlanta GA on Saturday 2/26.
Nur’s time of 17:43 (net) was good enough for an age grade of 94.49% and a 39 second victory over Ken Youngers (65) who ran 18:22 for 2nd place in the M65-69 division. Youngers, no slouch himself, took 2nd in the male age grade honors with a 90.32% making Nur’s victory all the more impressive.
The Impala RT’s Nancy Simmons, 62, (Belvedere CA) also brought home an individual medal with her 3rd place finish in the F60-64 division with a time of 20:59 (net).
The Impala women took two team medals with a bronze medal for the 40+ division and a silver medal in the 60+ division.

PA Legacy Coach Peter Brewer passes away

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of long-time East Bay coach Peter Brewer Saturday, 19 February due to a heart attack.
The Pacific Association awarded Peter the ‘Legacy Coach Award’ last Saturday for his four decades of contributions to our sport.

RR Speedy Distance Runners Sought for Wearable Tech Study

Tech Company Seeking Athletes for Wearable Tech Study!

Our PA Treasurer Jason Mawdsley is helping a local company source well-trained athletes for a study utilizing various wearable tech. For every athlete Jason refers who is accepted into the trial, the PA Foundation will earn 150 dollars! 

Below are the criteria for an athlete’s acceptance into this trial:

  • 22-29 years old
  • Able to attend 2-3 in person sessions in Santa Clara, California
  • Males with a V02 Max 50 ml/kg/min or 10km time <= 39 minutes
  • Females with a VO2 Max 40 ml/kg/min or 10km time <= 52 minutes

Athletes that meet the criteria can earn up to $550 for their efforts!
