2009 Pacific Association Youth Cross Country Schedule ≈ Results
Welcome to the 2009 Pacific Association Youth Cross Country Season From Bob Shor, PA Youth Cross Country Chairman This year the National Junior Olympics Cross Country Championships will be in Reno on Saturday, December 12th. Because our Pacific Association will be the host association of the event there will be some changes in our normal Junior Olympic procedures. The main change is that we will have only one qualifying meet for the Nationals and that qualifying meet is only for our Pacific Association athletes. Starting with that qualifying meet we will be recognized as Region 16. The Region 16 qualifying meet will be on Sunday, November 29th, in Reno on the same National JO Championships will take place. That qualifying meet will be the day after the California High School State Championships (CIF). Our clubs, working together, will be hosting the Region 16 Championships. Details and duties will be assigned as the season goes on. We will be hosting eight (8) meets, between October 4th and November 22nd before the Region 16 Junior Olympic. We will have a scoring system at those meets for boys and girls in the Bantam, Midget and Youth age groups. At each meet, if you come in 1st in your age group you will receive 10 points, 2nd =9, 3rd =8, etc. At our November 29th Region 16 Championships the athletes who have scored the most points in the six age group will be presented with a trophy and a whole lot of recognition. The athletes who have scored the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th most points will receive a letter of accomplishment and recognition. We would like to have as many of our athletes and clubs take part in all of our meets. It supports the clubs that host the meets and it makes our athletes better in competition. The more the athletes, the better the competition. And the better the competition, the better the athletes will be. Not all of our Pacific Association Youth Clubs are involved in cross country. If your club is not involved in cross country give it a try! The coaching is a lot easier than track and field as there is only one event! Or, if your club is not involved in cross country, your athletes may legally take part in cross country with another club. 2009 Youth Cross Country Schedule & Results
