Region 16 Track and Field Championship Frequently Ask Questions

 

 

Q. Where is the Region 16 Junior Olympic Championships?
A. Modesto Junior College.

 

Q. How many days will the meet last?
A. The meet will last 3 days starting on Friday July 9, 2010 thru July 11, 2010

 

Q. Is this meet the same as the Top 8 qualifier meet?
A. No. Because we are the host association for the Junior Olympic Nationals this year, we are not contesting our usual Junior Olympic Association qualifier meet (Top 8). The Region 16 meet is the only qualifying meet to move on to the Nationals in Sacramento

 

Q. So only the Top 3 Athletes will qualify for the Junior Olympics?
A. Yes. The top 3 Athletes from All Finals will qualify and continue to compete in the Junior Olympics in Sacramento

 

Q. How do I register for the meet. Do I still use Club Manager?
A. No you do not use club manager. We are implementing online registration through Coach O. Click Here to Register

 

Q. How long do I have to register my athlete(s)?
A. You must complete your registration process before midnight, July 6, 2010. The system will shut down at this time and if you are a work-in-progress � all will be lost. Don�t wait until the last minute.

 

Q. Will I be able to register my athlete if they are not a USATF MEMBER?
A. No. You cannot register an athlete without a USATF Members.

 

Q. How do I put together a relay?
A. All members must be listed on your club and must have a USATE Membership to compete on a relay.

 

Q. Will I be able to register my athlete if their Birth date has not been verified?
A. No. You cannot register an athlete for this meet if their birth date has not been validated at the Pacific Association office.

 

Q. What is the best way to get my athletes birth date verified?
A. You have three ways to get your athlete�s birth certificate verified: It must be in the office no later than June 30th

Q. How do I know if my Birth dated is verified?
A. When you go to the membership page your age must be bold and underline (16)

 

Q. Do I need to submit a USATF JO Advancement Form?
A. Yes. Submit one form per youth athlete. They must be mailed to Maria Castillo, 221 Waterview Terrace, Vallejo, CA 94591 at the time you complete your online registration. These must be received by Friday, July 2nd. Download here: Individual Advancement Form and Relay Advancement

 

Q. Do I need to submit a USATF Participant Waiver & Release Form?
A. Yes. This form must be signed by the athlete and parent. We must turn these over to the National Office before any of our athletes can compete in the National Junior Olympics. Q. Why do we need to send both?
A. At this time we are only asking for the Advancement form as a back to your entire. You should still print off your proof of entries from coach O and bring it with you.

 

Q. Are their any new rules that I should be aware of?
A. Yes. Effective immediately, the Intermediate Girl / Boy and Young Women / Men age groups are no longer allowed any false starts, same as their high school rule. Bantam, midget and youth age groups are still allowed one false start.

 

Q. How many events can my athlete register to compete in?
A. Bantam, Midget can enter 1-3 events, Youth, Intermediate, Young can enter 1-4 events. Athletes are not allowed to compete in an older or younger age group

 

Q. Does a Relay count as one event?
A. Yes!

 

Q. Can unattached athletes form a relay?
A. Unattached athletes cannot form a relay team

 

Q. Are there any exceptions?
A. EXCEPTION: Sub-Bantams can compete as Bantams since the Sub-Bantam age group is not a nationally recognized age group until 2011

 

Q. Is the Cost per Athlete or Event?
A. The Cost is $7 per Event
